Order Lifecycle Overview
Definitions
- Order. An order is one or more Packages that together make up a purchase by a single Buyer and one or more Sellers.
- Package. A package is one or more Products that are purchased by a single Buyer and a single Seller in a single Currency.
- Product. A product is a single item which is being sold by a Seller.
- Bundle. A bundle is a Package containing multiple Products.
Overview
After you, the Buyer, have created an Order it begins its journey by transitioning through a finite set of states. Those states are listed below. In addition to the Order as a whole, each Package within the Order also transitions through its own set of finite states, see the Package Lifecycle page for more.
Starting lifecycle states
- Order postage fee approval required The buyer has created an order containing one or more packages that require pre-approval by the seller(s) for the estimated postage fee amount
- Order payment method required The buyer has created an order and must now provide a valid payment method
All lifecycle states
- Order postage fee approval required The buyer has created an order containing one or more packages that require pre-approval by the seller(s) for the estimated postage fee amount
- Order payment method cleanup before next attempt We will remove temporary payment method which failed
- Order payment method required The buyer has created an order and must now provide a valid payment method
- Order payment processing We will instruct the order payment according to the payment method provided
- Order payment approval required The buyer must approve the payment
- Order payment approval processing We will process the order payment now that it has been approved
- Order payment method cleanup before fulfillment We will remove the temporary payment method information provided prior to fulfilling the order
- Order payment method cleanup before cancellation We will remove the temporary payment method information provided prior to cancelling the order
- Order fulfillment in progress The buyer and seller(s) are in the process of fulfilling each package within the order
- Order completed The order has been completed
- Order cancelled The order has been cancelled
